Equilibrative nucleoside transporter 2 (ENT2), also known as solute carrier family 29 member 2 (SLC29A2), mediates transport of nucleosides and also efficiently transports nucleobases and hypoxanthine. ENT2 has a predicted topology of 11 transmembrane domains (TMDs) and a large hydrophilic loop in the region between TMD5 and TMD7. ENT2 -as ENT1- is localised in plasma membranes and is broadly expressed in tissues. It is less sensitive than ENT1 to inhibition by nitrobenzylthioinosine (NBMPR), dipyridamole, dilazep and draflazine.
