The marketing of safer and more efficient drug entities, along with the development of new drug administration devices provide a major boost for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, beyond our imagination. However dose adjustment is not enough to produced the desired effect, and drug therapy should include an appropriate route of drug administration. Currently, there are many different and sophisticated methods to incorporate drugs into the patients that nurses should be familiar with. When there is no contraindication, oral route of drug administration is of choice and most frequently used as a physiological pathway of drug intake.
