Pervasive developmental disorders (PDDs) are characterized by impairments in social interactions and communication and restricted repertoires of activity and interests. Many reports have suggested impairments in neuropsychological testing: cognitive profiles in Wechsler intelligence scales, visuospatial cognition, executive functions, memory, theory of mind and face/gaze perceptions. These findings suggested the broad neurobioligical backgrounds of PDD, but it remains unclear which brain areas are related to specific symptoms of PDD and its comorbidities. Large-scale studies are needed to address this point.
