Inevitably space is lacking for us to cite all the progress in medical oncology. We have not given details about prevention (100 mg of aspirin daily for 3 years at least), early detection (flexible colonoscopy every 3 to 5 years beyond age 55), progress in supportive care and cancer in the elderly. The new agents offer major advances in several cancer types and a better use of chem(radio)therapy offers it in other cancers.
