Ugeskrift for laeger 2013 May 27A new Cochrane metaanalysis has reviewed the literature on the use of angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) in patients with heart failure and left ventricular systolic dysfunction. The conclusion supports the present recommendation from the European Society of Cardiology that angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE-I) are first choice and that ARBs should be reserved to patients who are intolerant to ACE-Is. Neither ACE-Is nor ARBs are effective in the treatment of heart failure patients with normal left ventricular function.
