DNA-damaging agent Zeocin is frequently used for vector selection in multiple cell types. We found that vector extracted from the Escherichia coli cells overgrown in the presence of Zeocin was generally contaminated with genomic DNA fragments. High dosage or prolonged cultivation should thus be avoided to minimize the contamination. Copyright © 2013 The Society for Biotechnology, Japan. Published by Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
