The aim of the present investigation was to compare the activity of RGH-2981 and two reference compounds, verapamil and LY 53857 on isolated, normal animal and pathological human arteries. The majority of the latter displayed vasoconstriction against 5-HT, or KCl, what evidences that despite serious vascular damage they did not develop a total functional failure. RGH-2981 showed a moderate serotonin and Ca++ antagonistic activity in both normal rabbit and pathological human arteries.
