This case report presents a pediatric patient with an aortic root abscess caused by group A β-hemolytic Streptococcus. After aggressive debridement of infected tissue, the continuity between the left ventricular outflow tract and aorta was reconstructed with autologous pericardium, and the aortic valve was replaced with a mechanical prosthesis using the Konno procedure with concomitant mitral valve plasty. We believe that radical resection of the abscess is an effective way to eradicate such a life-threatening infection. Copyright © 2023 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Published by Elsevier Inc.
