Identification of Candida auris by conventional identification methodologies can be challenging. While whole genome sequencing is seen as the golden standard to genotype C. auris at an inter- and intraspecies level, it is costly and time-consuming. Sequencing the transcribed spacer (ITS) region and microsatellite typing provide simple, fast, and inexpensive alternatives for identification and genotyping of C. auris. Here we will describe both molecular approaches. © 2022. The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.
