ADP-ribosylation is a complex post-translation modification involved in DNA repair. In a recent Molecular Cell publication, Longarini and colleagues measured ADP-ribosylation dynamics with unprecedented specificity, revealing how the monomeric and polymeric forms of ADP-ribosylation regulate the timing of DNA repair events following strand breaks. © 2023 The Authors.
