Putting transcriptional brakes on fibrosis: a negative regulator of TGFβ signaling.

Due to the pleiotropic effect of transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) signaling inhibition, function-specific targeted inhibition of TGFβ signaling is required. In a recent study, Yang et al. found that Krüppel-like factor (KLF)-13 acts as a negative regulator of TGFβ. Thus, activating KLF13 in fibrotic tissues may protect them from fibrosis by decreasing TGFβ signaling. Copyright © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
