The liver synthesizes and releases bile acids into the gut. Bile acids, either directly or indirectly, inhibit agouti-related peptide (AGRP)-B cells in the pars tuberalis of the pituitary gland. AGRP-B cells are assumed to promote pancreatic insulin secretion and/or to improve insulin sensitivities in insulin sensitive organs, resulting in improved glucose tolerance. © 2023 The Authors.
