The pathogenesis of degeneration in Parkinson's disease (PD) remains poorly understood but multiple lines of evidence have converged on the presynaptic protein α-synuclein (αsyn). αSyn has been shown to regulate several cellular processes, however, its normal function remains poorly understood.
