NADPH oxidase 5 (NOX5) is a calcium-dependent NADPH oxidase that generates superoxide. It plays an important role in controlling ROS-dependent processes in the vasculature in humans. It can be activated by thrombin, platelet-derived growth factor, angiotensin II, endothelin 1, and protein kinase C.
