We recently showed that the p53 tumor suppressor simultaneously governs numerous cellular processes in one model of transformation suppression. These findings suggest that p53-mediated tumor suppression relies on coordinated modulation of diverse cellular functions in a particular context, helping to explain why loss of the TP53 (tumor protein p53) gene is so prevalent in human cancers. © 2021 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
